The French expression être en train de means “doing” or “being in the process of”.
The theme of the project originates from the word “corridor” as representation of the need for the interconnection of environments that are independent from each other, places of transit in which relations and meetings happen.

Photographic documentation by Michelle Michielin

En Train De was a curatorial and participative project carried out during 2021 with the support of the IUAV University Student’s Union. It began with an Open Call for Site-Specific projects to be developed for three interstitial spaces at the university, the cloister from Tolentini’s Library, the garden and first floor of Palazzo Ca’Tron and the garden of Palazzo Badoer, the latest wasn’t used due to an unannounced construction site.
After the open call, the artists were invited to an intensive workshop week where they discussed the projects in each of the places they were created for. Each day, a couple formed by a teacher from the university and a guest artist that share common practices would engage in intensive critique sessions with each participant . The first day was dedicated to new media, with the participation of Prof. Francesco Zucconi and artist and director Giulio Squillacciotti. The second day was dedicated to fine arts and site-specific practices with Prof. and Curator Agnes Kohlmeyer and visual artist Davide Sgambaro. The third day was dedicated to dance and performative practices with Prof. and researcher Stefano Tomassini and performer and choreographer Nicola Galli. The last day was a more informal and convivial encounter with senior artists Cris L’Orsa and Nicus Lucà.
